The three-plus season Exped Venus 2 tent is delightfully lightweight, strong and versatile, and has space for two and their gear. Venus sets up fast, shrugs off weather, ventilates well and offers three pitching options. Dual entrances and vestibules provides easy access, great views and storage; one door is larger so two can sit side by side and reach outside to cook. Two-pole design with a third shorter pole crossing over the top provides impressive stability in high winds. Inner tent comes attached to the rainfly; simply slide the color-coded poles into the matching pole sleeves, tension the poles and set two stakes. Venus only takes a few minutes to set up; and the inner tent stays much dryer during wet setups and takedowns. Double guyline loops grip the pole sleeves to keep the tent taut and secure, even in rough weather. Mesh canopy is easily unhooked and pushed back for extra floor space under the rainfly; it separates from fly for use as a lightweight bug shelter. Rainfly offers a basic shelter on its own when reduced weight is needed. Rainfly features two hooped vents for good airflow possibilities under all conditions. Color-coded, reflective, glow-in-the dark zipper pulls offer easy, one-handed operation. Interior pockets help keep gear organized; also includes a small gear loft inside the tent. For trips under exceptionally wet conditions, Exped recommends using the tent with the optional footprint, sold separately. Average minimum weight specification is based on tent, rainfly and poles only. |
