The K2 Apache Outlaw is a moderately fat ski that's incredibly agile for its size, giving it the versatility to carve backcountry powder or inbounds crud. Suited especially for expert adventurers willing to hike for fresh tracks or skirt the ski boundaries in search of soft snow. Cap construction envelops the wood core and internal materials with the top layer of the ski, keeping overall weight light and durability high. Fir/aspen wood core produces a natural flex, allowing the ski to achieve full contact with the snow throughout the turn. MOD technology features an elastomeric secondary core which works as a high-performance suspension and damping system. MOD technology doesn't affect flex, allowing the skis to bend freely while absorbing vibrations and increasing power, forgiveness and performance. MOD Monic mass damping technology reduces unwanted vibrations at their source through the addition of embedded zinc in the secondary core. Metal laminate construction alternates layers of fiberglass and titanium above and below the wood core to provide damp, accurate performance. Titan Technology removes titanium in a small hole pattern from the tip and tail, creating a lighter ski with noticeably lower swing weight. Progressive sidecut has different curve shapes along different parts of the ski more aggressive in the tip, less aggressive in the tail. The progressive sidecut results in confident, quick turn initiation in hard snow and easy release in crud and powder. Powder tip places the widest point of the ski further back than on other K2 skis, resulting in excellent stability and turning ease in soft snow. Requires bindings with wide brakes. |
