The 9.8mm Evolution Velocity Dynamic DRY Rope by Sterling is part of their Evolution Series of ropes. This is a rope that is lightweight, but can take multiple impact forces with high fall ratings. Bottom line, a light rope that can take a heck of a beating for an extended period of time. The Velocity has been constructed with a new sheath and core construction giving you an incredibly durable rope with half the weight of a higher diameter. The Velocity also excels at zero drag over rock and caribiners, and clips with enough stiffness, you can be assured you won't get that classic rope flop when trying to clip from a precarious stance. All in all, this is the perfect rope for onsights, redpoints or long routes where you need a rope that can glide over surfaces without getting caught and will clip like a dream. The Velocity Dry Rope also is made with their proprietary DryCore technology, that will help maintain the original strength and elongation of your rope in wet or icy conditions. All of Sterling's ropes are treated with DryCore but dry treated ropes then go through a process to treat the sheath and in turn also treats the core again. According to Kurt Smith, Sterling's rep, "This is a pain staking process - we double dip the rope and do the treatment twice to really get it to bond to the nylon.."
