The Apache Coomba is K2's serious alpinist powder ski, without the twitchy characteristics found in some experts-only skis. It features shaped tips and a progressive sidecut to provide predictable turning performance in variable snow conditions. K2 balanced the flex pattern throughout the length of the Apache Coomba and gave it a 102-mm. waist for superb floatation in deep snow and better control in frozen crud. Doug Coombs and K2 gave the Apache Coomba a light and predictable fir wood core with a triaxially-braided, torsion box construction. K2's Mod Technology helps dampen vibration and minimizes ski chatter at speed on wind-scored glacier snow. K2 compares Mod Technology to shock absorbers in an off-road car.
